  • Job title: Youth Pastor

    Job status: Full-Time, 40hrs/week, includes Sundays and some holidays. Part-Time may be considered.

    Job roles & responsibilities:

    Purpose: To partner with parents in teaching, guiding, and directing youth (6th to 12th grade) at FCC and in the surrounding community in the foundations of faith, so they will grow into a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ.

    —Plan, direct, and evaluate the Youth Ministry scope and sequence, as well as weekly curriculum prep. Evaluate existing ministries and curricula, implementing change where needed.

    —Deliver Youth pastoral leadership on Sundays, as well as select evenings depending on the group (middle school and high school)

    —Responsible for Confirmation of the youth of FCC (11th and 12th grade) on a bi-annual basis

    —Plan, coordinate, and lead youth off-site events and retreats (winter and summer) to enable focused, meaningful reflection in a fun, supportive environment

    —Recruit and coach volunteers and assistant staff or intern. Ensure a harmonized approach to teaching and discipleship. Foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration through which innovative ministry can flow.

    —Coordinate and lead service opportunities for the youth. Coordinate with outside groups as well as with the Missions and Service Director.

    —Ensure the Youth Ministry includes parents and family as an essential part of a holistic ministry. Keep the congregation informed about these ministries and the needs of youth. Ensure that new families in the church are welcomed and connected with the Youth Ministry.

    —Work with the Pastor of Discipleship to develop strategic plans, action steps, and goals for the Youth Ministry that implement the purpose and mission of FCC

    —Work with the Pastor of Discipleship in management of all budgets related to the Youth Ministry

    Required skills and experience:

    Skills:

    —Personal and mature faith in Jesus Christ

    —Ability to work with youth & adult volunteers and minister to their needs

    —Leadership, teaching, and administrative skills

    —Relevant youth ministry work experience

    —High energy, relational skills, high emotional and social intelligence; coachable

    —Understands basic student development, be familiar with contemporary youth ministry strategies

    —Basic budgeting, planning, and management skills

    —Ability to work and collaborate with other staff positively.

    Experience:

    —BA/BS degree required

    —MDiv or MA preferred

    —Seminary students are encouraged to apply

    —Some experience required, 2-3-years

  • Position: Connecting Director at Free Christian Church

    Part-time (15 hours/week), Weekends Included

    Reports to: Missions & Community Service Director

    Scope and Purpose:

    —To “Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it” (Hebrews 13:1-2). Care for those whom we consider brothers and sisters and those who we do not yet know. We desire to provide an environment where people feel valued, cared for, and welcomed by creating safe and comfortable settings where relationships can develop and deepen.

    —To serve the Free Christian Church community as Christ would serve.

    —To foster a welcoming and comfortable community, while guiding individuals in their faith journeys by connecting them with Free Christian Church events, groups, services, and appropriate opportunities.

    Responsibilities:

    —Oversee weekly volunteer scheduling for various Connecting Ministry functions including: ushers, greeters, online church host(s), Communion prep, and coffee/hospitality.

    —Maintain a regular visitor list, while following up with individuals as appropriate and working closely with colleagues to maintain accurate database information.

    —Be available to engage with congregants and visitors before and after each Sunday service.

    —Work with various ministry leaders to contact visitors in order to provide requested information, promote ministry events, and assist them in connecting to our community.

    —Member of Care & Outreach Team - collaborating with colleagues twice a month to engage and care for congregants.

    —Attend weekly Wednesday morning staff prayer meetings, monthly full staff meetings, and staff retreats.

    —Maintain and arrange training, safety, and instruction materials for volunteers.

    —Encourage and build up Connecting Ministry volunteers through encouragement, recognition, ongoing communication, shared ministry experiences, and educational opportunities.

    —Oversee coordination of Free Christian Church Membership (Discovery) process twice a year, including recruiting prospective participants, hosting Discovery courses, and collecting new member applications.

    —Oversee annual CPR & AED training for staff and volunteers.

    —Manage hospitality budget and coordinate with other staff on community outreach budget.

    —Make sure the welcome desk is equipped with up-to-date supplies and information and keep clear of extraneous/unapproved materials.

    —Collaborate with the Property Manager to ensure physical spaces are properly set up, clean, safe, and welcoming. Communicate all regular and special set-up needs.

    —Coordinate the purchase of supplies for Sunday morning hospitality (including coffee service), Communion, and other Connecting Ministry activities.

    Qualifications and Special Skills:

    —Gifted in hospitality, administration, and leadership

    Spiritually Mature - reflects a life committed to Jesus Christ and to the authority of Scripture.

    Event Planning - has the ability to plan, recruit, mobilize, and excite volunteers for key church events, in addition to Sunday mornings.

    Interpersonal Relationship Skills - the ability to initiate relationships with congregants and disengaged individuals.

    Leadership Skills - ability to recruit, build, train, and oversee multiple teams of volunteers.

    Communications Skills - ability to communicate effectively across various mediums.

    —Energetic, positive, and possesses an authentic love for people.
