FREE CHRISTIAN CHURCH

WEDDINGS

We want to congratulate you and extend our assistance in helping you prepare for a Christian wedding. The pastors and the staff of Free Christian Church are eager to work with you to make your wedding service an occasion that will be both beautiful and honoring to God.

Free Christian Church will host and/or perform weddings for those who are part of our community (e.g. member, regular attender, child/grandchild of member). We are not a wedding venue for those with no prior connection to FCC.

Please start the planning process by telling us a little about yourself and your fiancé(e) by filling out the Application for a Christian Marriage. (link to the online fillable form which will submit to JP and Mandi, not currently fillable). This application is required whether the ceremony will be at the church or at an off-site location. We will reach out to you regarding next steps after we receive your application.

A Christian marriage is a holy covenant made between a man and a woman who pledge themselves to each other, to love each other, to trust each other, and to face all of life together. Therefore, because of the holy and serious nature of this relationship, there are certain expectations that we have of couples desiring marriage through the Free Christian Church:

  1. We expect that couples will attend worship services on a regular basis before their marriage and make an effort to become actively involved in the church following the wedding.

  2. We expect that couples will live their engagement time consistently with Christian biblical values. We ask couples who are cohabiting to separate for the period leading up to their wedding day.

  3. We require couples to meet with a trained facilitator to take the “Prepare and Enrich” course or comparable premarital counseling.

  4. We ask couples to meet twice with the pastor who will be officiating at the wedding to plan the wedding service.

Cost

Free Christian Church desires to keep costs to a minimum. There is no charge for the use of the church building, but there are nominal fees for the church personnel who work the ceremony. A document of wedding fees is provided here. Financial assistance is available, contact your officiating pastor for more information.

Rehearsals

Wedding rehearsals are typically conducted at 5:00 p.m. the day before the wedding, unless otherwise arranged.

Receptions

Free Christian Church generally does not host wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, or similar events. Any requests for exceptions to this policy must be requested to the Director of Operations.

Premarital Counseling

We require couples to meet with a trained facilitator to take the “Prepare and Enrich” course or comparable premarital counseling. Premarital counseling is not a pass/fail test. Rather, the intent of the counseling is to help couples identify strengths in their relationship, as well as current and potential future areas for growth.  The process also helps facilitate conversations regarding important issues that are crucial for engaged couples as they prepare for marriage.  Fees for the premarital counseling will vary depending on the facilitator used.
