Jesus, Seed of Abraham

The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ. - Galatians 3:16

The best news of this verse for me is, of course, that if I have faith in Jesus who is the seed of Abraham and the work He did on the cross, I, too, will inherit the promises of God and am an heir right alongside Jesus Christ Himself. Great!

On the other side of that, I feel a serious responsibility to create a faith-based legacy in my own seed – for my children, and their children. To live by example: loving God, loving others, serving God’s people, choosing kindness when frustration and anger well up, choosing patience when I want things done my way. Teaching and modeling what it looks like to love, follow and choose Jesus in the face of uncomfortable circumstances, scary situations, and my own emotions.  God is there with abundant grace as I muddle, at best, through these trials showing both me and my family HIS faithful patience and loving kindness. We just can’t lose with God!

Dear God, Please continue to guide us in leading our children to you and show them your abundant grace and mercy as you treat us gently in our mistakes along the way. Amen.
