The Word Made Flesh
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. - John 1:14

It has brought me great peace, joy, and strength throughout my life knowing Jesus is both 100% man and 100% God. He knew that these seemingly mutually exclusive ideas combine to make the most powerful and intimate relationship that is possible.
When I believe God is holding me to an impossible moral constraint, I feel a distant loneliness from him. Then I try to live up to it but I constantly fail. Eventually, I get through the exhaustion of trying to be good and realize that my selfish perseverance won’t work. This is when the Holy Spirit reminds me that Jesus endured many trials and suffering in his humanity. My Savior did this so I know he knows what I am experiencing. He has become my example and comfort through all of life.
However, If Jesus was simply a good example for me, this would eventually undermine my faith in Him as Christ. I have many good examples throughout my life including my parents and various family friends who have displayed in many ways the goodness and love of God. Through disagreements and difficulties, we all love imperfectly. I’m thrilled that Jesus is not limited to those parameters. Instead, he loves me perfectly. He has conquered death and saved me from my hopeless state. Because of what he did, I can live in that power and comfort knowing Jesus continues to make these things present to me as Advent approaches.
