FCC is always looking to start new small groups. Leading and hosting a group is an exciting ministry privilege which we take seriously and joyfully. If you are interested in pursuing small group ministry as a leader, apprentice leader or host then please fill out the form below.
“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” – Jesus (Matthew 9:36-37)

What’s an Apprentice Leader?
An apprentice leader is a potential leader. The apprentice leader serves alongside the group leader to see if small group leadership is a good fit for their gifts and skills. Should the group grow large enough (~ 14-16 people) to multiply into two smaller groups the apprentice leader can take over leadership of one of the new groups. Also, should the leader be unable to continue (i.e. he/she relocates for work), then the apprentice can step in. This role builds ‘tensile strength” into every group and allows a group to grow.

When is a Good Time to Start a Group?
Anytime. If you have 6+ willing people and a vision for community then it’s “Go Time”. However here are some times when the calendar will be in your favor.
- September – This coincides with the beginning of the “small group year” as folks are coming back from summer vacation and are ready to get into the swing of things. We recommend that most groups stop for the summer so this is also the time that many ongoing groups reform.
- January – New Years resolution – Get Involved. This start time allows for six full months of group time before summer.
- June – If most groups stop for the summer then many folks are looking for a summer community! Do a unique study, gather some old friends, outreach to a particular demographic etc…

How do I Get People to Join my Group?
- Invite them. Think of friends, co-workers, neighbors and family who would benefit from. Invite people from the church. Invite people from outside the church. This is the most effective means to build a group. Statistics say %50 of everyone personally invited to a small group will attend at least once!
- List Your Group. After you register your group it will appear on the website, in the bulletin and other places around the church. Folks will contact you wishing to join, particularly in September.
- GroupLink. These periodic connecting events can launch a group or allow existing groups to add members.

Lead at Alpha
A great place to start leading is at Alpha. Alpha is a 10 week course covering the basics of the Christian faith. Many groups decide to stay together to form a “regular” small group after that.
