Daniel 7: 13-14, 27
- "In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one
like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the
Ancient of Days and was led into his presence.
- He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples,
nations and men of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an
everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one
that will never be destroyed.
- Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms under the
whole heaven will be handed over to the saints, the people of the Most
High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will
worship and obey him.'
Mark 8: 27-32, 14: 61b-62
- Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea
Philippi. On the way he asked them, "Who do people say I
am?"
- They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah;
and still others, one of the prophets."
- "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I
am?" Peter answered, "You are the Christ."
- Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.
- He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many
things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of
the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.
- He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to
rebuke him.
- Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son
of the Blessed One?"
- "I am," said Jesus. "And you will see the Son of Man
sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds
of heaven."
