The 2008 Mexico Missions Trip has been an awesome experience for me. I was expecting a gratifying feeling at the end of the trip for being able to help others and take the time to do it. Instead I came back with a different feeling inside and realizing even more than ever how much God blesses us and how He chooses His people to do His work. I was able to do things that I had not done before. Things such as knocking on doors and praying for others, doing the VBS with the kids and listening to some of the difficulties and hardships most of the families were going through. It was so good to be there and be a listening ear, a helping hand and sharing laughter and words of comfort with the families of ‘La Colonia’. It was a blessing for me as much as it was for them whenever I was able to help someone in the smallest way. I’m thankful for God allowing me to go on this trip and for doing things on His time. You can never question God’s ways and timing for things. All I know is that I’m so grateful and my passion for helping others and doing God’s work is much greater now. I want to remain focus on His calling. I want to be able to hear Him. I want His vision for me to be clear so when I finally see and hear what it is, I can be obedient to His word and do what He asks of me. I would definitely encourage anyone who has never done something like this to do it because it brings many things into perspective. I know how difficult it can be to take the time off from work and just decide to get away for a week far from your family, friends and your regular everyday life. But this experience is definitely worth taking and not only once, but as many times as God calls you to do it. It’s important to go out there, anywhere, and help God’s people and bring people to His feet. It is His Great Commandment!
Mexico 2008

This was the 10th team that our church has sent to Mexico to work with Harvest Hands, beginning in the year 2000. The preparation and planning had been one of the biggest things on my mind for the past 6 months. So how did the trip go? First of all it was a small group, only 8. Early on it begged the question from Pete and me, did God want us to do this trip at all this year? Should we take a year off? Pete and I had been asked to lead the team. John Givens and JP thought a small group would be great. So with discussion and prayer we decided we should proceed.
