The Purpose of Free Christian Church's Celebrate Recovery Ministry is to grow in fellowship and celebrate God's healing power in our lives through the 8 recovery principals and the 12 steps of recovery. By applying these Biblical principals in our daily lives, and a willingness to change we become free from our addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom allows peace of mind, serenity, joy and most importantly, a strong personal relationship with God. As we grow through this program we discover our personal, loving, and forgiving Higher Power - Jesus Christ, the one and only true Higher Power.
Celebrate Recovery meeting times are
7:00 – 8:30pm on Mondays at Free Christian Church
Celebrate Recovery is for all hurts, habits and hang-ups- These principles that are taught can be used for anyone who desires to change and are used in all of our groups. We try to identify and not compare our problems as we are all unique and everyone is at a different place in the journey to recovery. You do not have to be a Christian or a member of this Church to attend Celebrate Recovery but its ok if you are, Christians have problems too. This is a safe meeting where confidentiality and anonymity is respected. Come just as you are, and let God do the rest.
“Open share small groups”, meet each week in the conference room upstairs at Free Christian Church (except for “The First Monday” of each month when we meet in the Sanctuary). We will open with a topic, read from the Life Recovery Bible, and share our experience, strength and hope. As we are faithful to these meetings the Holy Spirit is able to help us to grow and change. Remember, recovery doesn’t happen in isolation.
“The First Monday” of every month we meet in the sanctuary for a service that includes Praise and Worship, testimonies, and a chip incentive program for length of sobriety. This would be a good night for anyone who wants to check us out as there is more time for questions during the fellowship time after the service
Group descriptions:
Chemically Dependant Group
If you find that you cannot quit drinking, drugging, or repeating behaviors that are harmful even when you honestly want to, or if you have little control over the amount you consume, you are probably an addict. If this is the case you may be suffering from a problem that only a recovery program and a spiritual solution will conquer. Members in this group will find support as they identify and learn from each other how to live in freedom, one day at a time
Co-dependant group
Co-dependant means to be a partner in dependency. Although this definition is close to the truth it is still unclear. Each co-dependant person has a unique experience born from their circumstances, history, and personality. It involves our relationships with other people whether they are alcoholics, gamblers, sex addicts, overeaters or normal people. Co-dependent behavior became ways of reacting to and masking pain. A co-dependant might have the compulsion to rescue and take care of others even when they don’t want or need it. They have difficulty setting boundaries, have a hard time saying no and might allow others to hurt or misuse them. Co-dependency can be very painful as we try relentlessly to fill the emotional vacuum inside that could have (but not always) come from living in a dysfunctional home with addictions, denial, independence, rigidity, abuse, rejection, poor communication, silence or rage. If we are to bring about healing, we must make a conscious effort to break these traditions. Members in this group will learn to express their own needs and wants in healthy ways, build a low self esteem and learn what is and isn’t in their control. This group is currently co-ed.
Women only group
This group is running for a limited time. It is for the purpose of helping women who have been abused do the 4th step. It is run by a leader who has experienced this and overcame the pain and effects of abuse by using these Steps.
Handicap entrance- Our small group is located in the conference room at the top of the back stairs. If you should need special assistance, FCC has an elevator and a handicap entrance. Just call ahead to the CR leader listed for help.
